Mario Kart Double Dash...

Post by R3C »

... is the best MK yet. It's a little more difficult than the other ones though. I need to get a net adapter so I can play with Admiral McNevin. Admiral: What have you unlocked so far? I've only had it a couple of days, so I've cleared out the 50cc cups, two of the 100cc cups, and I've got a silver on the last 100cc right now. I need to clear that so I can get the other courses unlocked. Fun game, and extremely smooth. I love the face on the volcano on the junglish mountainish track :D

I do agree, it is a bit harder. I have 50cc all gold, and i have gold on the three 100cc cups. I unlocked the special cup, and it is hard. i got gold on it in 50cc, but bronze is all i can get so far in 100cc. The star road is amazing, wait ill you play it.

I love the jungle level, thats my favorite one, and the one i do the best on. The freeway one is my second best. I still cant seem to get the start gun boost trick working, (like the older versions,) and i suck at dashing. I think ill need to be proficient in both of those to get anywher on the 150cc cups.

... unlocked that bastard! :D I got gold on it first try for 50cc, but I haven't tried 100cc. I've gotten the start boost to work a couple times, but it has to be a lot more exact than the old one. In the old one, you had to lead the start beep by half a second. This one you have to be right on it. The only way I can do well is to use the stupid babies. The green baby cart has the best handling, and it can go through the off-road shortcuts faster than all the mid-sized cars. I also like the their special (Being pulled by the big Ball-Chain-Dog-Thing.) I really like the way the Dinosaur special track looks. The rainbow road is quite cool. Now I want them to make a Mario game that's more like Mario 64. I like Sunshine a lot, but the water nozzle thing pisses me off sometimes. I'm about ready to go through Zelda again and get some new outfits :D

How are the different karts? What is the two person on the kart dynamic like, or is that only in multiplayer mode?

You can...

... mix and match special powers. Say you have Baby Mario and Mario on the kart. Whoever is on the back is responsible for dispensing weapons and special powers. You can switch who's driving. So if Mario is on the back, you can throw fireballs. If Baby Mario is on the back, you can use the big Ball-Chain-Dog-Thingy. You can have a second player handle all that stuff too if you want, but I haven't tried that yet. There is quite a bit of difference in the different kart classes. Weights, speeds, acceleration, how well they go over the off-track terrain etc. It's really quite fun.

I like waluigi's blue thunder(black) looking cart, that is the one i use. I use the red turtle, for his three shell special, and usually drive with yoshi.

I have played the dual player thing, but i would rather play against the person. I thought that id would let you see behind you, maybe it does but i dont know how. if you both lean at the same time you can corner better, and you can switch drivers at any time. say i do better on a certain level, id be like"let me drive on this one"

So you use baby mairo, have you got the bullet cart? How are your dash skills? Werent you good at getting the EEEeee... in 64? Its similar. I just usually shoot into a wall or somthing when i do it.

... it to either be easier to dash than on MK64, or I'm just better now. (I was pretty good before in open areas.) You can do it in tighter spaces on this one it seems. Just turn, wiggle left and right a couple times and blammo. I have the bullet car, I like it, but after using the baby cars, it drives a little sloppy. (Nice on the WaLuigi "Blue Thunder" mobile.) :D It does look like that. [TEE HEE HEE] I really like the baby karts because they don't slow down as much on off-road terrain, so you can cut corners and take shortcuts a lot better. I also like being towed through a good portion of the track by the dog thing. I'm hoping there is at least one more level up in the baby karts, because I'd rather not stop using them. I suppose I'll have to though if there isn't a faster version than the green one.

I thought the bullet was in the baby cart class, but i guess it has different specs.

Have you figured out how to unlock toad, and toadette? I heard they were in the game, but I dont know what to do to get them...

I think what you get for 100% gold completion, is the full circuit. Basically all 16 tracks in succession. If you get gold on that puppy, then i think you get mirror mode.
