Check out this new Audi

Post by Murray »

It will be called the Nuvolari Quattro. 600bhp Biturbo V-10. 20" rims. I like the rear view but the front...I'm not sure. Looks a little too brutish with that massive grill set-up. It will have adaptive cruise control that automatically senses how close you are to the car in front of you and adjusts the speed to maintain separation. Now that is cool. http://www.engen-cup.co.za/news/AudiUnveiled.htm

Definately like dat ass, but I'm not too keen on the auto-spacing feature. What happens when I'm trying to rescue the kidnapped baroness and I need to ram into the kidnappers' rear foil? The auto-spacing technology will keep me at a tantalizingly close distance just long enough for them to use their rear oil slick and send me spinning off the Autobahn. :noway:

Wow! Pretty awesome.

They aren't actually calling it the Nuvolari in America are they?

Fascinating...

Post by Bill Drayton Jr. »

Although the looks really don't do anything for me because it shares a lot of the same lines as Mr. TT except this one has a bit more beef to it - especially in the front with a meaner looking front valence and girthy grillitude... If I saw it on the street I probably wouldn't take immediate notice to it until the 600hp kickz0red in - then I'd be like "what the fuck was that!??!?!!" especially since the engine has "a fascinating sound." hehe!

Full-time AWD with 600hp is pretty damn insane - anything that could come close to competing with that would have to just be plain insane - such as the Bugatti Veyron 16.4!!! Woooooo!!!!

Magnificent mechanical sensuality for all wheels to enjoy...(at 252mph)
Image
(unofficially the official car of Mr. teh l2icks0r!)

Insane and insanely beautiful... (0-186mph in 14.0 seconds)
Image
(unofficial car of l2icks0r!)

Oh so Lovely... (0-60mph in 2.9 seconds)
Image
(unofficial mechanical love interest of l2icks0r!)

and wonderfully elegant...yes... (8.0L quad turbo W16 = 1001hp @6000rpm )
Image
(additional unofficial car of l2icks0r!)

Sleek and smooth... (7 speed paddle shifted semi-auto can shift in 0.2s w/ two clutch discs but no clutch pedal )
Image
(Oooooh laa laaaa....)

Rear 5/16 Bottom View (4100lbs includes "dat ass" )
Image
(If you have $1,000,000.00 then you can tap "dat ass")

And if 16 cylinders weren't enough...you can have 18 :noway:

-l2icks0r! (aka Bugatti Veyron 16.4 HyperCar Lovar! aka HyperCar terminology declarator!!!)

I like the rear logo best. Anything that looks like a backwards "E" scores points with teh 3nd3r23r0.

... a neat car she's washin', do you think that's a straight six?

:D :D :D :D

I like that. I think perhaps a Carerra 4S with a chip might be able to compete. Maybe it wouldn't give a sound trouncing, but it could definitely compete.

Hey Goemon

Not to state the obvious but when you find yourself in hot pursuit of that kidnapper, you probably won't be utilising the cruise control feature at that exact moment.

No luck so far in my searches as to when this coupe will be offered for sale, or what it will be called in the US, or even what price tag it will carry. Anyone care to guess? I say $88,000. But that might be waaayy low.

You've obviously never been in a high-speed chase

Post by Goemon »

You have to engage the cruise control when you're re-loading the machine guns and putting gas in the flame-thrower. That's not something you can do with just one hand... :ninja:

I think it'll approach the $100k mark. And it's obviously been designed with secret agents in mind:
For CIA operatives or just the paranoid among us, the Nuvolari employs a biometric secured glovebox. An authorized fingerprint on a small panel is required to gain access to your insurance papers.

...

Finally, you're probably wondering why Audi chose such a peculiar name for their new supercar. The reason is historical pedigree. On September 3,1939, the legendary Tazio Nuvolari piloted an Auto Union (Audi's former self) to victory at the Grand Prix of Belgrade. It was the final Grand Prix in which Auto Union participated.

G:

I think you guys are way low on yuor price estimates...
Just to put things in perspective, the Mclaren F1 retailed at something like $800,000, and came with a 612hp V12 engine. The bugatti comes with a W16(!) engine rated on their site at 1001hp(wtf!). Not that engine is the only factor in determining price, but Bugatti is a luxury brand, so I imagine it could easily be above $250,000.

They are...

Yeah, I was referring to the Audi. Although, I could see the price going north of $250k if it came equipped with some whistle tips.

I wonder

Post by Bill Drayton Jr. »

if Bub Rub/Lil Sis would think it's cool to "decorate" either of the two cars we have been talking about here with such a highly refined piece of automotive technology as the whistle tip...

BTW, I think the Bugatti 16.4s are going for more than $1M - I have seen as high as $1.4M but who knows - I mean it is actually a production vehicle...albeit very low production but still...very cool production car.

Dunno much about the 18.4 other than it's not as powerful as the 16.4 because it is not turbocharged and is smaller in displacement at 6.2L versus 8.0L. Also, I don't think the 18.4 is a production car - it was only ever a concept car so it would be a lot of cash if you could even buy it.

Oh the 18.4 makes 555hp from the 381ci power plant but it's got 72 valves! They should have went with 90 valves...

Those cars are...

Post by R3C »

... far too complicated for me. I like simplicity, and a decent power/handling balance. Nothing insane, but well over adequate. 6 cylinders is the perfect amount, air/oil cooled, rear wheel drive, mid or rear engine, nice lines and curves, leather inside and a Porsche badge. 1972-1996 vintage. There's not much better price to performance-wise for a stock automobile. Extremely reliable too. But that's just me and my heavily biased opinion. :D

I was actually going to go pick one up next week too but it'd be easier to just drive the 6 cylindar 240Z!!!!!!!!! WAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!

I tend to aggree with Dustin on this. The Bugatti is insanely fast and stylish, but it is really only cool in a video game kind of way. Give me a nice M3 or 911 (or maybe even a G35 or CLK) and let me sink a few grand into "personalizing" it and I would rather drive it to the butcher shop than an Italian super car.

Not to say I wouldn't love to take that or the new Audi for a spin.
