Dear Gay Ray,
Long time reader, first time writer. I'm having a problem with that moderless sod chip I ordered, the same one you recently installed and had problems with. The chip came with no documentation whatsoever, and being the resourceful person that I am...I managed to find NOTHING on the interweb anywhere regarding this particular chip and BIOS. I need your help!

ok, the jumper is set to the right rev, the xbox is on, the chip is on, the two blue LEDs light up, but no red one...which tells me the D0 is not lined up....right? I'm assuming there's another LED besides the two blue ones that should come on, but it's hard to tell. I just cant get that red LED to light up even when it's sitting right on top of D0. Where you able to get the red LED to light up? I got the same chip from the same place, so I probably have the same problem you had. Did you have to flash the bios?

Turn the switch off. Then when you line up the d0 the light will come on. It is a different colored light. I know there is info on the web somewhere on this. If you turn on the switch and the light turns off then the bios is bad. He just sent the chip back. I don't know if he ever got it to work with the new one. I'll email him. After we figured this out (by accident) I was able to line up the d0 around 1/3 of the time. You can kinda look to the side and see it pretty well, then tighten it down. BTW the box should be off during this procedure.
that first link would have been nice to have when I first started installing this piece of junk, but it turns out I'm technically inclined and have been doing it the right way from the start. The chip must be bad. It looks like the d0 contact on the chip was soldered really crappy too. Anyhow, thanks for your help rydogg, this crap's goin back.
PogoPin Fun!
Yeah me and ryland worked on this for a while at his house and accidently figured out that, if the bios is on on the chip the D0 light will not shine, but if it is off then the D0 light will shine brightly.
But with mine and many others. When my bios is off my xbox would work just fine. But when my Bios was on my xbox would boot then reboot twice and then flash orange/red and green. what happened was the pogopins were realease with a "weak" bios and it doesnt pick up. I did send my chip back and they sent me one back, still same problem.
I found a remote post about this problem and the guy was like "When you turn off your Xbox, hold down the power button till you hear no noises then turn it back on." Simple enough, dont know why that worked but it did. I flashed it and now it works perfectly.

now why didn't I think of that.
I've been sitting here all class reading up on the forums , and it turns out there's a plethora of people having the same problem I'm having...and there is a second solution to the problem! By scraping the d0 contact with a eyeglass screwdriver, all their problems went away. Its all so clear now. I cant wait to ditch this class and go home and try out these elegant solutions!
Thanks for helping me with this piece of junk people! My friend will greatly appreciate it!

Well it's all modded and stuffed with goodies. But what a piece of crap. The d0 contact on the chip doesn't even line up with the d0 solder point when screwed down. I had to burn a tiny piece of solder to the end of the contact so it would hang off enough to reach over and touch d0. LAME!
BTW, Tiger Woods 2k4 rawks my rectum!

Yeah it is messed up, all signs were showing that it was working when i was at your place ryland. And after even replacing my chip, it still wouldnt do anything different. Then one random post told me to hold in the button and it worked. No clue to why it worked.
Its all working sweet now. I am going to update to XBMC and see what the new style is.
