Silly me...

Post by N3ur0n0saurusl2exs0r!!! »

Thinking I could install a Microsoft program to run a Microsoft OS on a Microsoft OS!

What was I thinking!?!??! That is too much Microsoft!!! I need to throw some Oracle in the mix to get it to work or it goes bad!

Pfft... You should know better! :D

Use Virtualbox. It's free, it's good, it works. And, since you've already used it for the Virtual Mac, you should already have it available. Just start a new VM. I'd update to the latest version though, they've done a lot of work on it in the last 6 months or so.

Hence throwin in some Oracle in the mix...Yeah...kickin ass with it now...except...well - you can't kick very much ass with Windows 98. WOW it is just an amazing piece of crap! Took me almost an hour I think to install that hunk of junk! And it blue screened four times!!! Too fricken funny...Not running very good though. I wanted to play an old game from 1999 on it but the video performance is pretty bad and I can't get the sound to work just yet.

However

Windows XP? kickin ass
Windows XP x64? kickin ass really fast! Runs really good...

My Snow leopard broke after I confused it by removing some drives that I created with TrueCrypt...haven't went back to try and fix it...it is pretty much totally hosed...

What game did you want to play? I bet there is a better way to do it. Let me know what it is, and I'll see what I can find. A lot of times there will be a source port, a hack to get it running in modern Windows, etc. I've only needed to use a VM to run one Windows game out of everything I used to play, and it did actually work under Virtualbox, but I used Windows 2000 or XP rather than 9X, if I remember correctly.

Oh, and yes, I did indeed miss the Oracle comment. :D I think I'm still tuned for Sun. :D

Saw that you called last night when I got up today. I don't usually bring my phone upstairs once I move up there. Sorry about that. I'll give you a call later today.

I'm not seeing much information other than the usual, right click EXE, get properties, and attempt compatibility modes. However, if the game has any 16 bit code in it, it won't work on a 64 bit OS at all. In which case, you'd need a VM. I would try XP under Virtualbox for it. It might possibly work.
