If it handled Doom3 pretty well, it should be able to run it. Q4 has a much faster pace (more like Q2 and Q3A,) and since it has a lot of outdoor stuff, it may put a bit more stress on your system. I'd imagine it will still run quite well though. Also, ATI has been improving their OpenGL implementation a little if I remember correctly, so your card should run D3-engine games a bit better these days. I've still got a pair of 6800 GTs if you want to pick one up. (though you'd need a PCI Express MB.) Stupid idiots that were going to buy them didn't. (One of them couldn't figure out how to pay me through Paypal. (I wasn't aware that it was that difficult.)) :wtf: The other tried to talk me down to $175 for a $310 card that I paid $375 for not 3 months ago. I thought $230 was pretty fraggin' reasonable.

Is it possible to put the stock cooler back on?

Not that I have the cash for it anyway.

Yes, very possible. I have kept the coolers and all their mounting hardware, just in case. The coolers are pretty simple. They'd probably actually work better than when they were put on at the factory (because WE know how to apply compound.)

If I can manage some things properly, there might bet 2 6800 GTs that perhaps a certain SpiderM0nx0r and a certain Admiral could perhaps take. Depends. I spent money I didn't have on the 7800 GT, and was expecting to sell these. So far, I've dealt with complete idiots, so if they don't sell soon, I'll see what I can do.

It may be about time for me to get myself back into the AMD/Nvidia camp when I get back to that side of the pond. If there's still stuff around then we should talk.

That's a good plan. AMD is cheap too. You can get a new Venice for less than $190. An NF4 board for $80-90. Any old PC3200 memory will work, so you're all set there. It's quite possible that I'll have some overflow left too.

Yeah, it's supposed to. I'll look around and see if I can find anything to the contrary.

Looks like PC Gamer gave Quake IV a 70% score. :wasted:  Idiots. Once again everyone goes nuts expecting an id/Raven game to have a deep twisting story, tactical gameplay, and paradigm-shift level innovation. (in areas other than graphics)

WTF is with these people. It's QUAKE!!! id games, as the name "id" implies are supposed to be primal experiences. For this to work, the controls need to be simple and concise. The game needs to allow people to get their carnage fix quickly and easily. If they added tactics, it wouldn't be Quake. If they innovated the gameplay into something thought provoking, it wouldn't be Quake. I believe that's why they are making Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.

Why do people keep expecting Doom and Quake games to be Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six? If that's what these people want to play, then they should go and fucking play those games. Idiots. The lot of them.

If I want to play something accessible, immediate, and simple, id is who I turn to. If I want to think, I'll go elsewhere.

That's exactly what I was wondering. They never explain why the people there are Blue. It's such a dissapointment. I sometimes wonder why I even like that game.
