Bit of a tough read for chilluns this one, as it has no pictures or jingles and fills an astonishing 111 pages, but it seems to be a big slap on the forehead for your infantile President and his policy dwarves. From the military no less.
Maybe they're getting sick of dying for Israel, and for a President who let out that really really really bad slip about a 'crusade'. Note that when they're saying things about 'credibility', which they do rather often, and that the President must lead, they're saying in an only slightly roundabout way that the President lacks credibility. For military types, that comes quite close to insubordination bordering on mutiny.
They're still trying to be polite though. One day soon, spooky might just experience a safety failure on its electric guns as it's banking over Crawford.

While that last quote is quite laughable at face value, I wonder whether it isn't simply another slap in the form of heavy patronage - "Sonny, we know you need a very simple frame of reference to get you started. We suppose you know a something about brands (you know, like Skoal vs. Copenhagen), so how about a little branding analogy? When you've got that down, we'll try something a bit more complex".
While this report stresses the need for greater competence from the US government, unfortunately it appears to be demanding this competence in the service of the current imperialist project. Nowhere does it say anything like "and we could try leaving everybody else alone to get on with their lives", which is really the crux of the matter.

In as much as you won't find enough on Google alone I agree, but by reading a range of sources about the actual careers of people like Powell, Wesley Clark, Abizaid etc., you can gain a pretty good understanding of how their egos intersect with policy, and how their integrity bends to their ambition. I'm not sure that it's too hard to understand. Powell has been called a 'house slave'. Well now that Rice has taken his place, he's behaving like a dumb field slave with his "now Iran's done got 'em Boss!" line. He's just trying to find another house to get into within the Bush compound by demonstrating his loyalty. It's fairly transparent.

For the record, I'm assuming Jeb erased himself from these forums because of this thread. This thread is the only reason Darth Becile exists on this board. He comes here to spout his political ideology, insulting any member of the forum who doesn't agree. A hard-head with no sense of reason and quick to make snyde remarks. I don't regret a single comment I made regard Darth Becile because frankly I think he's a waste of breath on anyone's account. For him to participate rarely, IF AT ALL, in any other topic in this forum and only come to fulfill his purpose of gathering acceptance for his points of view and to insult others, is unacceptable.

I personally asked Ocean to come back to this forum because I value his opinion and more times than not I agree with him. I also think he has a respectable ability to produce evidence that backs up his point of view, which is a characteristic that most people he gets into it with lack. I think Bos does a good job of bringing up arguing points as well, although I think he may be getting a little too emotionally defensive. This is a discussion. No one is right or wrong but everything and everybody is fair game. If someone has a problem with an opinion that is being expressed it is much more effective to take diplomatic issue with it and present it in a way that stimulates discussion instead of pissing people off.
No one will be asked to leave if they are simply expressing contradictory viewpoints. I don't believe Ocean is being overly agressive. The discussion continues and therefore his input continues. There is always the option to agree to disagree, which is the way many of Ocean's tiff threads have gone. Quite a few between Ocean and db. That is what makes me reluctant to believe this one thread is the cause of his departure. I'll leave that to its own thread.

Apparently there is not too much on this forum that interests him right now. But in the past he has contributed at length to discussions of technology, music and more on this forum, and every subject imagineable on other forums. Maybe as an olive branch, Ocean will drop the Darth persona and go back to the more constructive Ocean 11.

I have said this before and it helps me put things in perspective and just relax a little. However, often I forget it and it needs to be reiterated and reaffirmed. I have been pretty confused about what is happening in the world and what needs to be done since the election. Sometimes it seems every piece of news is bad and there is just nothing that can be done about it. Therefore, I feel it is a good time to try to find some perspective and it is why I bring it up. This is as much for me as anyone reading it, but take what you will from it.
When we look across the history of our species and of our society we focus on the most major events, which tend to be wars, assassinations, disasters, etc. There have always been catastrophes and there always will be. Our society is always evolving and it will continue to have highs and lows. There is no utopia; no end goal. We are a part of society and a part of its evolution, just as all of previous generations have been. We cannot get too down when we find ourselves towards the bottom of one of these historical trends. We do not necessarily need to know exactly what to do to "fix" the world. As long as we keep our own selves moving in a positive direction, embrace what we think is right, and be compassionate towards all, our society will evolve in a positive way.
