Re: Forum Feature: Cell phones through the eras
Looks like I need to stop posting from my phone. Quotes don't show up right. :D That was a fun roller coaster ride Admiral! The phone floated by my face in slow motion, and I just kind of casually reached out and grabbed it. Almost like we were on a space station or something. :D I guess physics was...

Reserved.
I will say that I started with a proper “car phone” as I’m sure the Admiral will remember. Followed by the “slim” brick.

...is that guy with the funny face on the right side of the banner? I think he was the “boss” or something? He used to help us fight against the Sigma threat. Someone in closer contact with said individual should give him a little poke with some kind of stick or other pokey type thing. I miss that g...

Re: The OFFICIAL Emulation / Simulation / FPGA / Pi Thread!
I’m typing this on my phone, so could elaborate later. The main thing about FPGA is that the original chips are being simulated on a programmable logic IC. This means that all the logic gates and behaviors are exactly 1:1 with the original hardware. Indistinguishable to the software (assuming a comp...

Re: Life Under Lockdown: What are you playing?
I really enjoyed the original. It was a slow start, and I almost stopped, but by about the third major location opening up, things started to move along nicely. The combat is weird at first, but becomes transparent enough after a while. I didn’t get into the second one. Played the opening sequence, ...

Re: The OFFICIAL Emulation / Simulation / FPGA / Pi Thread!
I played Iron Sword maybe six months ago. I made it to the fire level, but lost steam around that point. I don't think I've ever seen it beyond the fire boss actually. I think we actually played this one together way back and also got to the fire boss. (If memory serves...) I need to get back to som...

Re: 2D Game Database Mini-Reviews Etc.
I think I spent a REALLY long time wandering around. :D I do runs of just shard gathering. If you have the magnet perk, it makes doing this much easier, since you won't have to run back and forth to pick everything up. It just pulls it all to you. I barely use the gun except to open doors that need ...

I just beat Wizards and Warriors a couple of weeks ago on the MiSTer.
I've also been enjoying all of the Compile shooters (Aleste, Super Aleste, Spriggan, Blazing Lazers, etc.) Very enjoyable games.

Re: Steam Keys - Come n get em!
I saw some extended play from it at E3 last year. Sounded like they were close. Cannot wait. Might go black and play original in anticipation. I would go back and play it, except it still remains all of my kids favorite game (more or less) and one of them is almost always in a playthrough of it, so...

Re: Poll: Mario 3D Remakes on teh Switch
I beat the first Mario Galaxy. I liked the second one better, but still haven't completed it. I think Super Mario World and Super Mario 64 are the only ones that I do 100% completion on, just because I always have. The rest, I just beat whenever it feels like I've seen enough of everything. I don't ...

Re: 2D Game Database Mini-Reviews Etc.
Glad you like it! The energy is like stamina. It depletes when you do rolls, or later when you have some of the more advanced mobility items. (like dashes and things like that) If you take the "embrace" path, the first skill I would corrupt is your shield. There are some guides floating around that ...

Re: The OFFICIAL Emulation / Simulation / FPGA / Pi Thread!
I would go to the PleasureDome tracker, and grab the latest MAME ROM set from there. The Final Burn set works ok for some things, but not as well for others. I think most modern arcade emulators are based on the newer MAME sets.
Go school!

Gris is great!! I didn’t finish it but played quite a bit. I decided to give Hollow Knight another go since Devon was getting along in it. I finally pressed on past where I had quit a few times before, and I’m REALLY enjoying it now. I’ll probably be done with it in a couple of days. It’s definitely...

Those little panel mount extender cables are at Adafruit, and are quite reasonable. This site is the best one for getting started with the hardware and accessories: https://misteraddons.com/ Smoke Monster on YouTube has a good channel with news and info of this type. The devs hang out on Atari Forum...

If I did this again, I would probably make it just a tiny bit smaller, and would add two more USB ports on the back. Maybe internalize the power supply too. Overall though, I think it's pretty decent.

I've actually been messing around with Lakka, an all in one emulation package. "Lakka is the official Linux distribution of RetroArch and the libretro ecosystem." http://www.lakka.tv/ I have Lakka running on my Raspberry Pi 4 + 4GB, and I must say I'm rather impressed. I'm currently playing Tony Ha...

Re: Life Under Lockdown: What are you playing?
The case, yes. If you haven't looked into the MiSTer platform, I'd highly recommend it. It's a little more expensive than some of the other options out there though once you're all in on the hardware/accessories. It's great though. SpiderMonxer has one too, but in the original acrylic case. I can el...

Re: Poll: Mario 3D Remakes on teh Switch
I love all of them, but Super Mario World and Mario 64 are still my favorites. Koa and I have just about completed New Super Mario Bros on the Switch. The kids and I beat Super Mario Odyssey (which IMO is the best recent Mario), and I'm quite fond of Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U. I take the Mic...

Re: 2D Game Database Mini-Reviews Etc.
I think you'll like it. It's a Metro-Van with obvious Lovecraftery to the styling. It has a HUGE skill tree to open up, tons of different mobility upgrades, tons of perks, multiple ways to play, multiple endings, and the audio and visuals are stunning. Some people aren't into the combat, but what I'...

Re: Anyone else into Powershell?
I wouldn't say that I'm "into" Powershell. I use it quite a bit on the command level (not really scripting). As far as shells go it's actually very nice. I love how the tab-complete works for example. I still use the GUI though for the most part.
